SPANISH UTILITY GIANT GETS WIND IN ITS SAILS

Iberdrola SA Spain Utilities, has made a number of key acquisitions as its expansion continues. Deregulation of the electricity industry in Spain has prompted Iberdrola to expand into other industries. It has also prompted an acquisition spree that includes wind farms.

Iberdrola Renewables, the recent IPO renewable energy division of Iberdrola SA climbed an amazing 17% in the valuation of its stock in less than a month's time. In the summer of '06 Iberdrola acquired Perfect Wind SAS a wind farm owner and operator based in Paris for just over $66 million.
